Expeditions

Our research-driven expeditions primarily focus on the theme of investigating ecological interactions in semi-arid and arid zone ecosytems. In order to be field-effective, most expeditions cater to a maximum group size of 8 - 10 participants at any one time. Small group size also means a high biologist/participant ratio and hence there is a greater emphasis not only on teamwork, but also in terms of the potential for individual input into each project.

At this stage, we'll be kicking off in late 2007 with our first official trip to Lake Broadwater on the western edge of the Darling Downs (focus Koala and reptile ecology). With help from Griffith University, this project has been building up over the last few years and is now ready for activation. During the course of 2008 we are hoping to activate long-term projects in both the Currawinya and Diamantina National Parks in southwestern Queensland (focus: dynamics of arid zone predator-prey cycles) and in 2009 the Pilliga Scrub in central western New South Wales (focus: Koala landscape ecology).
