Like most things in life, field expeditions can take a bit of organising, not just at our end but also at yours. The following information is provided to let us both know what we can expect from each other.
Travel
Generally in air-conditioned 4WDs equipped with two-way radios, comprehensive first aid kits and emergency satellite phones (as required).
Food
All expeditions are fully catered for, including all meals and alcoholic beverages in moderation.
Accommodation
The best that we can secure but location and/or project dependent, ranging from tented accommodation in some instances to air conditioned quarters in others. Full details are provided on the expedition page for each project.
Reference Material
A reference library of botanical, zoological and other relevant natural history texts and scientific publications accompanies each expedition.
First Aid
All expedition leaders are certified at Senior First Aid or Remote Area level.
Getting there
Refer to expedition notes. Vehicles generally leave from east coast localities and can pick up passengers at major towns and regional centres en route provided that a major deviation is not required.
Luggage restrictions
1 travel pack or suitcase with a maximum weight of 25kgs, plus a day pack with a maximum weight of 7kgs.
Expedition briefings
Field activities will be preceded by a detailed project briefing, generally on the evening of arrival, with a debriefing also held on the last night.
Paying for your trip
Participation in any of our expeditions will be subject to your application form being approved by Taipan Eco-expeditions. An application form can be downloaded at the bottom of each expedition's web page.
A 20% deposit is required within 7 days following notification from us that your application form has been approved, with full payment required a minimum of 40 working days prior to departure. Deposits are fully-refundable if your booking is cancelled prior to the 40 working day deadline for full payment. Payment by Cheque or Money Order preferred, EFT details can be provided if required.
Upon acceptance of your application by Taipan Eco-expeditions and receipt of deposit, a user name and password will be issued that allows access to a members only part of our site.
